Homework
Homework has a significant contribution to play in the learning and progress of our students. Homework must be appropriate, consolidating, supportive, and facilitate the embedding of knowledge and skills for our students.
Setting regular and appropriate homework is a vital component for the success of our students, allowing them to thrive and prosper. Homework provides teachers with an opportunity to check for understanding, deepen learning or provide opportunities for pre-learning outside of the classroom.
For students regularly completing homework, it can further develop personal qualities such as responsibility, time management, perseverance and self-esteem.
All homework is set via Class Charts to inform both parents and students of all current homework tasks. As of September 2025, Google classroom is used as a storage facility for homework. During the 2025/26 academic year, the school will be transferring to the use of Microsoft Teams ready for September 2026. Students are also expected to record homework in their planner.
For those students with SEND or additional needs, the expectations regarding homework remain the same, but there is additional support for them to complete homework within an after-school club. This takes place on a Tuesday in the Inclusion department. This is supported by LSAs and runs between 3pm and 4pm.
A progress club runs every Wednesday (starting in half term 2 and concluding in half term 5) in the ELZ to support any student who requires help with their homework or computer access.
